Elizabeth Anne “Liz” Valbert, 74, of Ste. Marie, IL passed away on Thursday December 15, 2016 at her sister’s home.

Liz was born on July 15, 1942 in Jasper County, IL near Ste. Marie to Louis W. Valbert and Leona Mae “Dollie” Valbert who preceded her in death.
Liz worked as an Electronics Engineer for Winonics for 25 years. In the spring of 1987 Liz spent 6 months in Bejing China at the special request of the Chinese Government. She installed a training program for their electronic circuitry program. She was the first American to be given special dispensation to enter the Forbidden City as an honor for her efforts. She also worked to the Sumner press for 3 years as a correspondent and Ad Representative. In the last 10 year she worked as a CNA at several area nursing homes and Sarah Bush Hospital. Liz attended Jasper County School but Graduated from Hutsonville High School in 1960. She was a member of the Newton Red Hats, Order of the Eastern Star in Newton, IL for several years. Liz love to grow flowers, she never met a vegetable that she didn’t like but would never grow one. She enjoyed collecting Antiques, Half dolls and Old Jewelry.
Liz is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Angelique and James Whelan of West Salem, IL; Two brothers and sisters-in-law Gilbert L. & Maryellen Valbert of Martinsville, IN, and Louis H. and Charlotte Valbert of Ste. Marie; One sister and brother-in-law Dottie and Robert Rumpp, Ste. Marie, IL. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and special heart to heart friend Diane (Dee) Kurpiel.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents and several Aunts and Uncles.
